Many babies like the idea of being swaddled because it keeps them warm and snug. You’ll see nurses at the hospital doing this just after the baby is born, right? That’s because babies are used to being snug inside the womb so it’s a comforting feeling.
Some little ones also need extra help in calming down. They get themselves so worked up and excited moving their arms and legs around that they have a hard time relaxing in order to fall asleep or they startle themselves and wake up in the middle of the night.
Some may look at this product or other swaddles and think that it looks uncomfortable or like a straight jacket, but babies seem to love it! The trick is just to get the right size when getting a woombie so that it holds the arms in, but allows some movement.
That being said… there are many swaddling products on the market.
What makes the Woombie Convertible Leggie so great in my opinion?
- It has a zipper so that your baby cannot become un-swaddled. The Summer and SwaddleMe velcro swaddles just don’t do the job. Note, your baby may be able to reach a hand up through the collar if it is sized too big. You want it to be snug.
- Not only does it have a zipper but it has a two-way zipper so that you don’t have to completely un-swaddle your baby to change their diaper. You can just unzip the lower half keeping them still snug and calm while you do your thing. This will make putting them back to sleep much easier.
- It is convertible so that you can slowly transition your baby from the swaddle to having their arms free when you think they are finally ready. There are snaps in the arm area so you can choose to keep them closed, just open one arm at a time, or have them both opened up.
- It has individual legs rather than a sack so that you can use this in a swing or bouncer and keep your baby securely strapped in while still being swaddled. If your baby is using this in a crib and moves the legs around too much, then the traditional sack blanket would be better. See below for more details
Cleaning is a breeze. It is machine washable and can be put in the dryer, just on a low heat, gentle cycle.
This Woombie comes in 2 sizes. Newborn (5-13 lbs.) and Big Baby (14-19 lbs.) If you’re like me you’ll need to buy both since my little one had a hard time relaxing. She needed to be swaddled in order to be calm.
Also, I purchased two of the same size because there were times when she wet through her diaper in the middle of the night and through the Woobmie as well. It didn’t go well when I didn’t have a replacement!
That’s really the only reason why I didn’t give it a 10. These are expensive to purchase multiple of, but honestly it was still worth it in my opinion.
Other Woombie Options
Woombie Convertible Swaddling Blanket – This is the traditional sack which tucks the babies legs inside to keep them cozy while still swaddling their arms. It’s a convertible swaddle so they can slowly transition one arm out at a time. This one has been given 15 awards for it’s design and innovation and is good for cribs.
It also has a Mega Baby option for 20-25 lbs. There aren’t many swaddles out there that go this big, but some children need it.
Woombie Soothie – This is the traditional sack that snuggles them, but has arms. It soothes a different way… it has pacifiers at the end that allow your baby to take it out and put back in as needed. They’ll never lose andy cry for their paci again!!
If you’re having a hard time keeping your little one calm while sleeping or having issues with them breaking out of the current swaddle you’re using, I highly recommend it. It may be a pricier option than some of the other swaddles, but it gets the job done. Rather than buying multiple other swaddles and being frustrated, you’ll be buying a good quality one.
The Woombie is a good product. It’s cleverly designed and well made. Purchase your Woombie Convertible Leggies swaddle today on Amazon for fast shipping and help your baby get the restful sleep they need.
