MainStreetSHARES Review – Earn money 3 different ways

What is it?

MainStreetSHARES is a company that offers cash back when you shop online.

They have over 1135 stores that they partner with and those stores vary in how much cash back they provide.

How it works:

  1. Visit the MainStreetSHARES website
  2. Find the store you’re looking for
  3. View other coupon codes available
  4. Click a link to go to the stores website

That’s it!  You then purchase the item(s) you wanted to originally, but you get cash back for doing so.

When you purchase items, your cash back accumulates.  They tally it monthly, but the payment is delayed by 2 months to ensure all purchases and returns are accounted for.

What makes them different from other cash back sites?

MainStreetSHARES offers a few different things, not just the basic cash back incentive.  In addition to the regular cash back that you receive each month, you also get a percent (based on how much you spent) of total company revenue earned by other members who shopped and other income they receive through advertising.  That additional revenue earned is like icing on the cake.  It’s unexpected.

Here’s the example given on their website:

Not only that, but when you shop you receive msSHARES.  If MainStreetSHARES is bought out, members will split 50% of the net cash proceeds.

If you earn msSHARES through July 31, 2015, you get to split an additional 10% of the net cash proceeds.

  • You need to visit the MainStreetSHARES website first, then locate the store you want.
  • Some stores may not be listed or may have a higher/lower rebate at Mr.Rebates or Ebates so that’s why I use more than one.  I like the idea of sharing in profits with this one though so if the percentage is close to the others I’ll now use MainStreetSHARES.
  • Look for coupons before clicking on the stores ‘Shop!’ button.  There may be coupon codes for discounts or free shipping that can be used along with the cash back offer.
  • It typically takes a few days to show the purchase and rebate credit but they state that it could take up to a couple of weeks.
  • Rebates are tallied every month but not paid for 2 months, so a purchase made in Jan would be processed at the end of January but not paid until the end of March to account for returns.
  • Travel purchases are tallied once your travel has been completed
  • Rebates are only given via Paypal

Example cash back percentages:

The picture above shows just some of the stores available under the Baby, Family & Pets section. As you can see each store offers a different cash back percentage.

They have 20 categories and over 1,100 online stores.  They also have the option of searching based on deals available rather than by store name.  The percentages and deals are always changing so you definitely want to check it right before you are ready to make a purchase.

They also offer the option of adding a Quick Click Bookmark which is adding a special link to your Internet browsers bookmark so that all you have to do is click the bookmark and it will automatically route you through MainStreetSHARES to your store without requiring you to log in.  This is a nice feature, but personally I like the idea of seeing the coupons and deals on the MainStreetSHARES website first.  If you are rushed for time though, this feature is helpful. Their goal is to make the process easy.

Note that you should not use other web coupons from other sites or it may void your cash back on here.  They display coupons on their website and those can be used in addition to the cash back, but it must come from the MainStreetSHARES site.

The bottom line though is that MainStreetSHARES site is quick and simple to use.  You login, search for your store and available deals, do your shopping and you’re done.  You automatically earn cash back, additional company revenue and msSHARES so it puts money back in your pocket that you wouldn’t otherwise have.  And who knows, you might have more money to look forward to if/when the company is bought out.

I should also mention that the more people that use this company, the more profits they will have to split with us and the greater the chance that it will be acquired.

With that being said though…

Cash Back Percents are Actually Higher with Ebates!

I think Main Street Shares is a good site to add to your many cash back sites that you check because the same company typically has different cash back percents on each site.  If you’d rather not go through the hassle of checking a bunch each time you shop though, from my experience… Ebates has typically had the highest cash back.  Check out Ebates here.

If you have any experience with this company, please leave a comment below with your thoughts on the program.  Also, let me know if you have any questions.

Wow this looks like a really great idea! I had no idea about this! My wife is really big into couponing as with an 8mo old and another kid on the way we have to watch our finances pretty closely. Just from the graphic on here showing some of the different stores I know we could get some good use out of this, and the additional shared revenue thing sounds great!

Congratulations on the new addition joining your family 🙂 I’m positive you’ll benefit from this program. The print screen only shows a few of the stores available… they partner with over 1,100 of them! If you’re not a member of Amazon Mom yet, I highly recommend that too especially with 2 little ones in diapers. If your wife is big into coupon in she may already know about the program, but if not you can read my article Is Amazon Mom Worth It?

It seems like a legitimate way for earning some cash back.Payments through paypal add to the company’s credibility and the overall plan looks very well organised.

Is it possible to participate from anywhere in the world.?..and How the referral system works.?

..Because I have never used a cash back or reward site yet.Are you obliged to complete purchases all the time.?..Is there any minimum value of money in order to begin referring others.?

    Sorry for so many questions

Thanks for the comment, I’m happy to answer any questions I can. It looks like they are available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and Ireland, but most of the partnering stores are in the U.S. and Canada. There is nothing that says you have to make any purchases, you can just have an account and refer others.

Hopefully you’re in one of these countries so that you can take advantage of this great opportunity!

A very interesting angle on this kind of discount shopping.
I wonder how old this company is and I also am wondering if they have plans on selling it soon?
I really like the formula they use. Quite unique from the many others I have looked at.
It sounds like you are happy so far in your experience with them.
How are they at paying on time, etc?

      Hi Shawn,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Here’s a little more info for you.

MainStreetSHARES is owned by a company called Integral Technologies. They had a basic cash back site called BigCrumbs for over 9 years so they’ve been around a long time and have a good paying track record.

They decided to change their design from just cash back into the 3 benefits that are available now (cash back, revenue sharing, and acquisition money). They decided to change the name to bring a new brand and message geared towards the sharing of revenue focus. I think the program has a great structure so I’ve hopped on board – it’s free to join! Just Click here to sign up.

I will like to know if they accept people from all countries? Again, what is the mode of redemption of your refunds? Thirdly, if I don’t have a PayPal account will that mean I wouldn’t be able to get my refund or are there any other payment methods?
Lastly,is payment made exactly after two months or it can go beyond that?

    • admin

      Hi Fidel,

You have to be in one of these countries to join: U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or Ireland. You also need a Paypal account in order to get paid. You’re supposed to use the same email address when signing up for MainStreetSHARES that you use for Paypal so that it can be verified.

Regarding payment, the website says they pay 2 months in arrears but really it’s 3. The example shows purchases made in June will be paid at the end of Sept.

Excellent review! I just learned about Ebates today and already built a sales funnel for it. I think i will have to check out mainstreet shares as well, and see how that works in comparison. Thank you for the informative review!

Your site looks like it is coming along nicely 🙂

Thanks Damian, give it a try and see what you think. Please use my link when you sign up. You can also learn about another cash back site from my post hereMr Rebates – Earn free money for signing up. I actually use all 3 (Ebates, MainStreetShares, and MrRebates) because they vary with what retail partners they have and what percentages.

I didn’t know there is such option. This will save me a huge amount on my future expenses.
Every purchase will get a cashback.

    And more savings through msSHares.
But this raises me a question. How often do they calculate msSHares? monthly or yearly?
Because you said they will calculate the total of other members purchases, but didn’t say the time period.

    • Kristy

Thanks for checking out my post and leaving a comment. Yes, every purchase that you make at one of the stores listed on their site will get you cashback. Pretty awesome, right?

MsSHARES are equal to the amount of cash back you get. If you get $4.32 back from a purchase you also earn 4.32 msSHARES and it’s calculated within a couple of days and added to your account. Those shares matter if the company is ever acquired. In addition you get to share in the companies revenue. That little extra is calculated each month and is based on your percentage of total spending.

Just click here to sign up and start earning your cash back. 🙂

Great post. Main Street Shares sounds better than other cashback sites I’ve come across. I’ve been a member of Ebates for quite a few years now and I was satisfied at first, but then my payments basically stopped for no reason. I still get annoying emails from them about my balance, but they won’t send it.

Anywho, I like the aspect of earning from the sites advertising and revenue sharing, I notice (revenue sharing) is gaining in popularity with many websites. Thanks so much for the info. I will certainly be signing up with them. (I miss getting cash back!

    • Kristy

Thanks. I wonder why you’re no longer getting money back with Ebates, do you have a large enough balance? You should only need $5.01. I haven’t had a problem with getting paid through them, but I’ve found that Mainstreet Shares is a lot quicker with paying because they pay any balance over $1. It’s definitely a company worth checking out that I’ve been happy with.

When you sign up I’d appreciate you using my referal link. 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to leave me feedback.
